Day 29 in the Life of a Software Development Institute Student

Today, March 24, 2025, My day 29 and was another interesting day at the Software Development Institute in Bangalore. I started my day at 3:00 AM when I woke up. Despite feeling extremely sleepy, I managed to get out of bed, although it wasn’t easy. After some effort, I took a bath and offered my morning Namaz (prayer). By this time, there was very little time left for Sahri (pre-dawn meal), and I was worried I might miss it. I rushed downstairs to grab my tiffin.

Yesterday, I had taken a parcel of biryani from Sharif Bhai, and it was sitting in the fridge. I decided to make the most of it for my Sahri meal. I took a chapati, set it aside, and opened the biryani parcel. I filled my tiffin with the biryani and placed it on top of an iron, turned upside down. The heat from the iron warmed up the biryani, which had been cold from the fridge. While it was heating, I peeled off some almonds (which I had done with Ashok yesterday) and ate them with a date.

By the time I finished the almonds and dates, the biryani was ready. With just a few minutes left for Sahri, I quickly ate the chapati with egg bhurji (also from the parcel) and then enjoyed the biryani. Both dishes were incredibly delicious, and I really enjoyed them. I wish I could eat these daily, but they are quite expensive since they’re from a branded restaurant chain. Despite the cost, I felt the meal was totally worth it.

After finishing the biryani, I still had some egg bhurji left. I thought of making a sandwich with it. I took two slices of bread, spread the bhurji on one, and topped it with the other slice to make a sandwich. It turned out to be delicious, and it was a great addition to my meal. Overall, I spent 415 rupees on this three-course dinner, and it was totally worth it.

I finished eating at 5:07 AM, just one minute before the time for Sahri ended at 5:08 AM. After that, I drank some water and completed my Sahri. I then wrapped up all my utensils, washed my hands, and offered Fajr Namaz.

Since I had a class to attend at 7:30 AM, I set an alarm for that time and went to sleep. When the alarm went off, I got up, got ready, and headed to my institute. I didn't call any of my friends today because I knew that they would come if they wanted to. So, I went straight to the class and sat in the front row, waiting for the teacher. However, after a long wait, a different faculty member arrived and continued the class.

The original Java teacher didn't show up, and I was unsure why he was being so irregular. As a result, our Java syllabus was getting delayed. The new teacher, who usually teaches logical programming, gave us a task. We had to write a program to analyze a string and count how many alphabets, special characters, and numbers were present. However, no one could do it because some inbuilt functions were required that we hadn’t been taught yet. The teacher gave us some time to try, but no one was able to do it. I spent the time texting my friends and asking where they were.

After a while, the teacher explained the problem on the board, and by then, the time was up. I went to meet my friends, and we decided to go to the park. I asked about Rishika because she hadn't come to class, and one of the guys told me she was at home doing Pooja.

Surprisingly, Rishika showed up in the park. She had insisted her mother let her come to the institute after not attending for the last 45 days. We all had breakfast, and I didn’t eat since I was fasting for Ramadan. I just scrolled through social media, laughing at memes. Afterward, the group started playing catch, and I decided not to go to the next class. I ended up bunking the logical programming class, and we spent another hour hanging out in the park.

While we were there, we noticed Akash was chatting with a girl, and Rishika was helping him flirt with her. We all laughed at them, and after a while, Rishika asked Suresh to ask for a badminton set from some other guys. She, Amit, Suresh, Pavan, and Akash all played badminton for about an hour.

When it was almost time for the next class at 12:06, I tried to gather everyone to go back, but no one was ready. Even Rishika, who came all the way just for class, didn't want to go. I waited for a bit, and finally, Amit and the others decided to go. Rishika stayed behind, and I walked with the group to the institute. We punched in our attendance and joined the class, which had already started.

The class was on project development, and we continued working on the React app that we had started in the previous class. We had to implement a login functionality and a signup page (front-end part only), and set up the routes for both. While doing this, I helped my friends solve some errors they were facing. By the time the class ended, we all headed out, and I noticed my phone battery was dead. I quickly charged it for about 10 minutes before heading to the next class.

After class, I went back to my PG, changed clothes, and offered Zuhr Namaz. I had planned to check social media but decided to force myself to sleep since the lack of sleep had been affecting my ability to wake up for Sahri. I set my phone to charge and drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up, I was in a bit of a dilemma about the dreams I had just had, but eventually, I realized it was time for Asr Namaz. I rushed to the masjid, and I had decided to organize an iftar party. At 5:20 PM, I left my room and went straight to the masjid. Instead of carrying heavy watermelons to the masjid from a fruit shop, I used Blinkit to order the fruits and have them delivered in a few minutes.

Once at the masjid, I offered Asr Namaz, and I noticed they had already set up tents and dinner tables. After checking to see if iftar was already arranged, I confirmed that it was, and I decided to order fruits: watermelon, grapes, and bananas. There were kids around, so I asked them to help me get the iftari, and they all came along to wait for the delivery. The rider arrived within a few minutes, and I helped distribute the fruits to those cutting and arranging them.

Indian fruit salad masala chaat with fresh Fruits, mint leaves and spices. Fruit Chaat is a spicy sweet and salty salad enjoyed for ramadan iftar and during the hot summer.

I thought of buying samosas, but since many samosas were already being served, I decided not to. After washing my hands, I sat down for iftar and offered Maghrib Namaz. Following that, the dinner announcement was made, and I happily joined the dinner queue. The crowd was huge, but as I looked around, I recognized a familiar face. It was a YouTuber I follow! I was so excited to see him.

I followed him through the crowd and managed to take a selfie with him. He was humble and down-to-earth, unlike some others who act like big celebrities despite having just a few followers. We chatted about his YouTube content, and he offered me his WhatsApp number (which I already had). We walked together for a while, discussing different things. It was an amazing experience!

On my way back to my PG, my mother called, and I spoke with her. I also picked up some biryani for Sahri. Back at my PG, my roommate was not around, so I started writing this blog. By the time he came, I had completed half of it. I saved it as a draft, took my tiffin and water bottles, and went to the dining area. I filled my tiffin, grabbed some biryani, and filled my water bottles before keeping everything in the fridge.

Back in my room, I soaked some almonds and scrolled through social media. It was around 8:40 PM, so I decided to scroll until 9:00 PM and then study. I kept to my plan and set my phone aside at 9:00 PM to revise all the Java stuff. After studying, I continued writing this blog and planned to sleep afterward.

And that’s it for today! Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Stay tuned for the latest updates. Bye!
