My Day 11 at J Spider: A Busy, Fulfilling Day During Ramadan

March 2, 2025 – Day 2 of Ramadan

Today was my Day 11 at J Spider, and it also marked the second day of Ramadan. I woke up around 3:30 AM, got refreshed, and had my Sehri (pre-dawn meal). After eating, I relaxed for a bit and then offered Fajr prayer. I went back to sleep until 7 AM but ended up waking up at 7:30 AM instead. Since I was running late, I quickly packed my bag, got ready, and headed to the institute.

I reached the institute slightly late, but fortunately, the session had just started. The instructor began explaining the lesson, and instead of having us write notes, he dictated information that we had to write down. Once the session ended, it was announced that the entire day would be dedicated to learning Java.

Java Classes: Struggles and Learning

The next session was also focused on Java. We were given a break for breakfast, but since I was fasting, I didn’t eat anything. My friends went out to the park for breakfast, and I joined them for a walk. After the break, we returned to class, and the Java trainer for this session was a bit different. I wasn’t too fond of his teaching style. He gave us problems to solve, but he seemed confused himself about what he was asking. It felt like he wasn’t sure about the logic behind the problems and kept dictating random things without clear instructions. Despite the confusion, I endured the two-hour session and stayed focused on learning what I could.

Once the session was over, we had a break of 15-20 minutes before the main Java trainer returned. This time, the topic was "Switch Statements." The trainer explained the concept in detail, and by the time the session ended, it was time for lunch.

Lunch Break and Reflection

As I was fasting, I didn’t have lunch, but I went to a nearby masjid to offer my Zuhr prayer. I stayed there until around 2:30 PM, as the next session was scheduled for 2:30 PM, and the institute was just a 5-minute walk away. The session began on time, and the trainer started discussing loops in Java. He explained that there are four types of loops in Java, but I wasn’t able to remember all of them. If you know, feel free to comment below!

After the session, we had another break, and I used the opportunity to visit the masjid again, as it was nearing the time for Asr prayer. I waited there until 4:50 PM, planning to return to the institute by 4:30 PM for the next class. Unfortunately, I ended up arriving 30-40 minutes late, only to find the class empty. The attendance lady told me that all the students had gone to the J Spider building and directed me to room 103.

Evening Classes and Iftar Preparations

I went to the J Spider building, and when I arrived, the class was almost full. I found a seat, and the aptitude session started. The trainer discussed various methods for calculating percentages, and I found the session useful as these kinds of problems are likely to appear in exams. After some time, the trainer announced that those who were fasting could leave at 6 PM, but we still had to complete the session. So, I stayed until the end of the class.

At 6 PM, the fasting students, including myself, left the institute. I saw a couple of friends leaving, and I asked them where they were going. They were heading in the opposite direction, so I bid them farewell and walked toward the nearby mosque for Iftar.

Iftar and Evening Reflections

The Iftar arrangements at the mosque were great, and I felt blessed to break my fast there. After Iftar, I offered Maghrib prayer. One of my batchmates was there, and we chatted about our experiences with Sehri and Iftar during Ramadan. After the discussion, he headed back to his PG, and I started walking toward mine.

On my way back, I passed a Chinese food stall and was feeling hungry, so I decided to try their fried rice. Unfortunately, the fried rice didn’t meet my expectations. It was just plain rice with a few veggies, and I don’t think it deserved to be called fried rice. Still, I spent 70 rupees on it and ate about 80% of it before deciding it wasn’t worth finishing. I then bought a Coca-Cola for 15 rupees, which helped me feel full.

Back to the PG and Preparing for Tomorrow

After finishing my drink, I walked back to my PG. I thought about buying something for Sehri, but I was too tired, so I headed straight back to my room. Once inside, I unpacked my bag and lay on the bed for a while, scrolling through social media. By the time I got up, it was almost time for dinner.

I had already packed my dinner in a tiffin for Sehri, so I took it to my room and placed it there. There were a few messages waiting for me, which I responded to. My mother also called, and I spoke with her for a while. Then, I finished editing some pending blog posts before sitting down to write today’s blog.

Conclusion: A Day Full of Learning and Reflection

Today was another busy but fulfilling day during Ramadan. Between my Java classes, the struggles of fasting, and the time spent in prayer and reflection, I felt grateful for the opportunity to balance my spiritual and professional life. Despite some challenges with food and teaching sessions, I made the most of my day and focused on learning and growing.
